and i have replaced some things. the seat, the rear fender, these are new. but today was a sign that, as you say, the heart may need a renewal.

i think you are right, amigo. i think i may have to replace the works within. the bike shop has a set around said they wouldnt charge me too much, older model. i'll try to drive carefully until i can get to doing that. and yes, i'm also very much into ritual marking passage and so on.

i remember Tiger Balm! that is some powerful stuff. (altho maybe it wasn't the same as Chinese Tiger Balm?) we had it in my house when i was young. back then it was in a small squat blue (?) glass bottle with a tiger on the lid. all old style cool art...wow. old memory. i've not seen it in decades.

either way, i'd love to have some, if you dont mind sending it, absolutamente. that would be a great gift for this new rough and tumble spring. thanks, kai.

Damn. Yeah I'd be wondering about the spirit of them wheels too after consecutive days of danger and violence. That last pic of the bike gazing off into the sky makes it look like Carrie or something. Glad to hear that both incidents ended, I guess, not as badly as they could have. Though I suspect you'll have some sore and tender areas for a week or two, after a spill like that.

I'm sure lots of people think I'm "superstitious" but I'd probably try to replace the whole gear set, kinda like replacing the thing's heart. After all, that's what fucked you up. Or something like that, maybe new accessories, or a new seat (yeah especially that, because it is, um, in intimate contact with you). Or maybe even just a complete scrub down with a damn toothbrush and steel wool, and fresh grease up. A fresh start, a separation from what came before, a new life with a new owner. But like I said, I'm weird, I have my eccentric Chinese ways. I'd probably light incense on the bike seat and fire off a string of firecrackers on the thing.

I guess you've been deriving so much joy and usefulness from the bike that you can't complain too much, maybe the universe is just keeping you in check or something, keeping you on your toes. Wow. I really like your passage about the freshness of violence, I know exactly what you mean. It's so interesting what the mind does in those moments.

Anyway. Heal up from those bruises! Maybe a nice hot bath later. I always use Chinese Tiger Balm on spots that get banged up, you rub it into bruises really generously and deeply to the point that it kinda hurts. Don't know if you can get your hands on that where you are. Hey lemme know if you want me to send you a jar, always good to have anyway!

Peace. Talk soon!
